Spiritual Inheritance
Whatever your cosmological beliefs, we are born into familial lines with cultural experiences, memories, personality traits and talents that are passed down through genetic memory. Scientists have proven that epigenetics is real. Many years ago I read Bruce Lipton's book The Biology of Belief which discusses epigenetics, which in layman's terms means the tags or markers that sit on top of or around your DNA that tells cells whether they can read it or not. Lipton posits that thoughts, which are just energetic waves, can effect our gene expression because they interact with these tags that sit on top of or surround the cell, able to switch on or switch off the gene expression (in other words, allow it to be read and therefore expressed). The genes we inherit through our DNA, which is just the genetic sequence that serves as a blueprint of "instructions," but the markers or tags to read them is what is malleable.
My grandfather wrote a short, simple book on this very topic, which he self-published (and probably few people ever read) called The Why of Life. I think it's an incredible philosophical and spiritual treatise that I’d like to republish someday. It's not lost on me how his spiritual wisdom (and his desire to write about it) has been passed on to me through my DNA.
In some spiritual circles, it's believed that the healing oneself in this life affects our ancestors since our spiritual/genetic expression is connected. This makes sense to me if one believes time is an illusion and we are living in infinite parallel realities, which quantum physics clearly implies.
The point I'm making is that the families we are born into and their experiences, talents, abilities and memories, are hard coded into our DNA and passed down through the biological process of reproduction. That said, we have the power to alter the code, to rewrite it, or to enhance it. We inherit both wonderful traits and painful memories, and we have the power to do the healing work now to alter the literal expression of our genes. We can consciously ask ourselves what would we like to draw from or switch off? One thing is for sure, we are malleable—genetically and spiritually.
Soul-Prompt: What gifts and strengths did I inherit from my family line? What traumas? Can I allow for my spiritual transformation? How can I surrender to it?

Additional Soul-Prompt:
Can you identify with a particular animal right now? What comes into your head if you are still? Maybe close your eyes, become still and see what flashes in your mind's eye. Or maybe it will show up in your dream or in the 3D world while you are in nature. Animals are constantly showing up as symbols for my inner journey. The essence of that being, whether it is a spider or a panther...tap in to it. Let me know what you find out.
