Can I Dance With My Shadow?

Can I Dance With My Shadow?
Can I get to know my shadow side and dance with it?

Are you doing the tango, the cha-cha, the waltz, free-form expression, or sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else dance? The shadow is always asking us to dance, but we may turn it down, mainly because it’s invisible. He keeps offering his hand and we keep looking through him like he doesn’t exist, wishing we could be free as those people on the dance floor, living in full expression of who they are.

But the clues are there—the loneliness or dissatisfaction that we feel on the sidelines, the overthinking, or the feeling of being an imposter to yourself. Your true self wants to get out and dance, but sometimes we repress that. Why?

What if we can center ourselves, be honest, and ask: what are we truly afraid of? Embarrassment, rejection? Only then will the shadow come into form, at first appearing as a holographic image; the more we look at it, the more it comes into being, with rich detail and more form. Only then can we take its hand and begin to dance, as its has been relentlessly standing there, waiting for us to finally say yes.

Soul-Prompt: What is my shadow? (angry, rebellious, sad, victimized, proud, ashamed)? How can I take its hand, and dance with it?
